Forging Meaningful Connections Through Stories

NYSEEN is a platform that helps connect people from different generations living in New York City. People are encouraged to share their own stories and develop empathy towards one another. It’s a platform that strengthens the community.

Challenges.

We were challenged to merge 3 different groups with 3 different concepts and target groups (kids, teenagers, and seniors) halfway through launching the initial concept. Given the limited timeframe and working as a group of 11, we ideated and pivoted our approach to lessen the gaps between all 3 generations.

Approach.

Each initial group insightfully interviewed people from their target groups to understand the problem to the core. The team has created NYSEEN from the core insights of each target group that, in the end, they share the same desire. However, to serve all 3 generations’ behaviors and needs, we developed a business model that covers online and offline so everyone is included. Hence, the website and the interactive physical events.

While maintaining the design thinking methodology, we also emphasize digital and physical prototyping. This allows us to understand how each tool functions and if they meet the absolute need. The very first prototype showed a lack of good graphics and story curation. Thus, later, we are able to develop a better solution that connects with all users.

We develop the website to create the most accessible engagement and connection in this digital era. This allows the users to understand and be emphasized by reading others’ stories and sharing their own. To access the website, the user will scan the QR code displayed in different locations around New York City with the available resources. Moreover, to include all users, we also provide physical interaction to discover and share your stories. This leads to the future possibilities of the Human Library and other events to create meaningful connections.
